Figma Make and the Rise of AI Vibe Coding

Figma Make is a new AI-driven tool for turning text prompts into interactive prototypes — plus a community to explore and remix AI-generated projects. Here’s how it stacks up against Bolt.new, Lovable, v0, and Replit in the growing ‘vibe coding’ trend.

Figma Make and Vibe Coding

Figma has launched Figma Make, a new AI-driven tool that turns text prompts into interactive prototypes and basic web apps. Alongside it, the new Figma Make Community collection showcases real projects built with Make, tapping into the growing trend of AI-powered app builders like Bolt.new, Lovable, v0, and Replit.

Figma Make: Prompt-to-Prototyping for Designers

Figma describes Make as a “prompt-to-app tool that allows designers and product builders to create interactive, high-fidelity prototypes — regardless of their technical background”. Instead of manually wiring screens and adding interactivity, you describe your idea, for example, “a to-do list app that syncs with a database”, and Make generates a working prototype. Figma says Make “helps teams think bigger, build with confidence, and bring more voices into the design process” by removing routine coding tasks.

Key Features

  • Prompt-based prototyping: Chat with AI inside Figma using natural language prompts, with optional attached designs.
  • Design consistency: Use your existing Figma libraries to keep prototypes on-brand.
  • Data and interactivity: Built-in Supabase integration for real data connections.
  • Rapid iteration: Update prompts or designs any time to instantly adjust the prototype.
  • Team sharing: Generated outputs remain editable in Figma for team review and iteration.

As of July 2025, Make is generally available to all paid Figma plans with daily AI credits.

Figma Make Community

The Figma Make & Sites Gallery is a dedicated community section for browsing AI-generated prototypes. Designers can explore and remix interactive demos, from a 3D hand-tracking synth to a virtual teleportation portal. Each file is open for inspection, serving as both inspiration and a learning resource.

Other AI App-Builders

Figma Make joins a new wave of AI app-building platforms — a movement often called “vibe coding” — where you describe an idea, and AI builds it.

  • Bolt.new: From StackBlitz, builds frontend projects from prompts using Anthropic Claude, with live browser IDE and instant deploy.

  • Lovable: AI app creator with visual editor, GPT-5 integration, Figma import, and full-stack generation.

  • v0 by Vercel: Generates Next.js or React code from scratch or Figma imports, deployable on Vercel.

  • Replit Agent: AI tool inside Replit’s IDE that builds apps from prompts, with Figma import and visual editing.

The “Vibe Coding” Trend

Vibe coding means skipping manual coding in favor of describing your intent and letting AI handle implementation. The advantages are speed and accessibility — letting designers, non-coders, and product teams prototype or launch in days instead of weeks. While AI code can have bugs or security risks, the overall trend is toward AI becoming a core creative partner for designers.

Next Steps for Designers

  • Try Figma Make and experiment with prompts.
  • Browse the Make Community Gallery for inspiration.
  • Explore other AI builders like Bolt.new or Lovable, and try importing Figma designs.
  • Start small — use AI to create one prototype or component, then expand.
